SOFTBALL TOPS NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/10/13) The Dominican College softball team extended their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) winning streak to 11 games this evening after defeating Nyack College, 10-2 in five innings. Game two of the scheduled double-header was rained out in the second inning.

With the win Dominican improves to 15-16 overall and 11-0 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers scored runs in each of their five innings of play in the victory. DC scored two runs in the first, both on Warrior errors for the early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, seniors Julie Plante* (Swansea, Mass.) and Delaney Childers (Johnstown, Ohio) each recorded RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-0.
The third inning saw Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) lay down a sacrifice bunt to plate Ashley Corrao* (Staten Island, N.Y.) and give the Lady Chargers a 5-0 advantage.
Dominican tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning as freshman Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrenceville, N.J.) hit a double to score two runs and first basemen Paige Berzak (Cypress, Calif.) later followed with an RBI single. Hogan then hit her second sacrifice bunt of the game to score a run to make the score 9-0.
The Warriors got on the board in the bottom stanza with two runs, but Dominican ended the game in the fifth as Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) hit a two out double and Childers followed with an RBI double for the 10-2 victory.
Plante went 3-4 with three runs scored, while Ragazzo finished with a team leading three RBIs on the day.
Hogan got the win to improve to 3-4 on the season, allowing two runs on four hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: The game was suspended in the second inning due to rain. The game will be re-scheduled and restarted at a later date.
