#6 WOMEN'S SOFTBALL ADVANCE TO EAST 2 REGIONAL FINALS
Brookville, NY (5/5/12) The Dominican College softball squad, the sixth seed in the East Region, advanced to the East 2 Regional Finals after defeating the second-seeded and #25 ranked Lions of Molloy College, 7-3 this afternoon in action played at the C.W. Post Softball Complex. With the victory, the Lady Chargers stay undefeated in regional play at 2-0 and will play tomorrow at 1pm needing one win to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend.

Post Softball Complex. With the victory, the Lady Chargers stay undefeated in regional play at 2-0 and will play tomorrow at 1pm needing one win to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend.
In the bottom of the first inning, pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) delivered a two out run scoring single up the middle to give the Lady Chargers the early 1-0 lead. The Lions came back in the third inning with a run to tie the score, but Dominican rallied in the bottom stanza with two runs as Childers picked up her second and third RBIs of the game with a shot over the right field fence to regain a 3-1 advantage.
MC got a run back in the fifth to pull within a run, 3-2, but shortstop Julie Plante*(Swansea, MA) answered back with an RBI single up-the-middle to make the score 4-2.
Plante's bat gave Dominican some more breathing room in the sixth as she picked up her 81st hit of the season, setting a new record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for hits in a season, as she blasted a three-run home run over the right center field fence to extend the lead to 7-2.
Molloy put a run on the board in the seventh for the final 7-3 Lady Charger victory.
Childers picked up her 24th win of the season, allowing three runs (two earned) on 11 hits. Offensively, she recorded her 200th career hit with her home run in the third inning.
Plante and Childers combined for four hits and seven RBIs in the game.
Dominican takes on Molloy College tomorrow at 1pm. If necessary, a second game will follow at 3:30 pm.
