#9 LADY CHARGERS SWEEP HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, PA (4/14/12) The Dominican College softball team, ranked ninth in the east region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Holy Family University, this afternoon in games played at Helen Randle Park. DC took game one, 7-6 and won game two, 8-5 to improve to 28-14 overall and 21-1 in conference play.

DC took game one, 7-6 and won game two, 8-5 to improve to 28-14 overall and 21-1 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers struck for three runs in the first two innings as Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) scored on an error in the first and a two-run triple from Julie Plante*(Swansea, MA) in the second put them ahead 3-0.
The Tigers got a run back in the bottom of the second and added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-3 lead. DC answered back with four runs in the seventh on a Tiger error and RBIs from Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA), Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) and Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) to regain the lead and eventual 7-6 victory.
Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) got the win (17-6), allowing six runs on six hits and five strikeouts in the complete game victory.
Game Two: Dominican once again struck for three runs in the first two innings as right fielder Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) had an RBI single to left field in the first inning and Plante belted a two-run homer in the second for the 3-0 lead.
Holy Family came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 3-3. Dominican regained the lead with two runs in the fifth on an RBI single down the left field line by Childers for a 5-3 lead.
In the top half of the seventh inning, Kerscher blasted a three-run home run to left-center field to make the score 8-3. The Tigers added two runs in the bottom stanza for the final 8-5 Lady Charger victory.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) got the complete game victory to improve to 11-8 on the year, allowing five runs on seven hits.
Plante finished with game two with four hits, while Berzak collected three hits.
DC is back in action tomorrow as they travel to non-conference opponent, Dowling College.
