SOFTBALL SPLITS TWINBILL WITH PACE UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (4/13/12) The Dominican College softball team, ranked ninth in the east region, split a non-conference double-header with the visiting Setters of Pace University, currently ranked 10th in the east region, this afternoon in games played at the DC Softball Field. With the split, Dominican now stands at 26-14 overall, while Pace is now 22-14 on the season.

With the split, Dominican now stands at 26-14 overall, while Pace is now 22-14 on the season.
Game One: Dominican jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back hits as Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) had an RBI double to center field and sophomore Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) followed with a two-run single to left field.
An RBI triple in the third inning off the bat of Deidre Jeppson* (Sylmar, CA) increased the lead to 4-0 after two innings. A bases loaded walk in the fourth inning to Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) recorded the final run of the game and gave Dominican the 5-0 victory.
Left-handed pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) improved to 16-6 on the season, striking out seven and allowing four hits in the shut out win.
Game Two: The Setters struck first in game two with a run in the first inning, but the Lady Chargers answered back in the bottom stanza on the infield RBI single from Childers.
Dominican took a 2-1 lead in the third inning on the bunt RBI single by Wassmann. Pace tied the game in the fourth with a run and took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. DC got two of the runs back in the bottom half of the fifth inning as Julie Plante* (Swansea, MA) led off the inning with a solo home run and Berzak later followed with an RBI single to center field to make the score 5-4.
The Lady Chargers tied the game in the sixth inning on an RBI single to center field off the bat of Ashley Corra (Staten Island, NY) to make the score 5-5. Pace got the go ahead run in the top of the seventh for the 6-5 victory.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) suffered the loss (10-8) in 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and four strikeouts.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header.
