SOFTBALL TURNS BACK CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/11/12) The Dominican College softball team turned back the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 6-1 and 13-1 (5 Innings) this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the DC Softball Field. With the victories Dominican improves to 25-13 overall and 19-1 in conference play, while Concordia falls to 8-17 overall and 5-13 in the CACC.

With the victories Dominican improves to 25-13 overall and 19-1 in conference play, while Concordia falls to 8-17 overall and 5-13 in the CACC.
Game One: The Clippers scored a run in the top of the first inning and held that lead until the Lady Chargers struck for a run in the bottom of the third as Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) scored on a wild pitch.
Dominican went ahead in the fourth stanza as shortstop Julie Plante* (Swansea, MA) belted a two-run homer over the right center field fence to give DC a 3-1 lead. Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) followed with a solo home run in the fifth for a 4-1 lead.
A wild pitch brought home Plante in the sixth and later an RBI ground out by Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) made the score 6-1.
Plante went 4-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the victory.
Childers went the distance to improve to 15-6 on the season.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers pounded out 13 hits in the five inning victory. Dominican scored nine runs in the second inning that began with back-to-back home runs off the bats of Childers and Wassmann. Childers later came to bat again with the score being 7-0 and hit her second home run of the inning, this one a two-run shot to left center for the 9-0 lead.
DC added four runs in the third inning which also began with a home run, this time from Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA).
Dominican tallied two home runs in the first game and added four home runs in game two for a total six home runs on the day.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) picked up her 10th win of the season to now stand at 10-7.
DC returns to action on Friday when they host Pace University.
