WILMINGTON WILDCATS SNAP LADY CHARGERS CACC WINNING STREAK
Orangeburg, NY (4/10/12) The visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University snapped a 17-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) winning streak held by host, Dominican College, by splitting a double-header this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers took game one 10-1 in five innings, while the Wildcats won the second game, 4-3.

The Lady Chargers took game one 10-1 in five innings, while the Wildcats won the second game, 4-3.
Game One: Dominican scored four runs in the first inning to go ahead 4-0 and never looked back in the 10-0 five inning victory. Catcher Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) had a two run double and outfielder Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field. Sophomore Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) closed out the inning with a solo home run.
The Lady Chargers tacked on four more runs in the third inning as Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) had an RBI single and third basemen Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) delivered a three-run blast to give DC an 8-0 lead.
Back-to-back doubles by Coles and junior Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) put Dominican ahead 10-0 and the eventual victory.
Coles finished the game 2-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Left-handed pitcher Childers got the win to improve to 14-6 on the year, striking out seven and scattering two hits.
Game Two: The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Wildcats scored four runs on two home runs for a 4-0 lead.
Dominican got two runs back in the bottom stanza as Coles hit her second home run of the day, this time a two-run shot to make the score 4-2.
Coles struck again in the seventh with a one out solo home run for the final 4-3 Lady Charger loss.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) took the loss in five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
Coles went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs in game two to finish the day as the offensive leader for Dominican by going 4-6 with four runs scored and seven RBIs.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Concordia College at the DC Softball Field.
