LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL CONTINUES WINNING STREAK WITH VICTORIES OVER UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES
Philadelphia, PA (3/26/12) The Dominican College softball team extended their winning streak to eight games after sweeping host, University of the Sciences, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at McNeil Field. With the victories, Dominican improves to 14-8 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

With the victories, Dominican improves to 14-8 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
Game One: The first game was scoreless through seven innings of play, when the Lady Chargers struck for three runs in the top of the eighth. Pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) led off the inning with a single and moved to second on the sacrifice bunt by Deidre Jeppson* (Sylmar, CA). An RBI single to left field off the bat of Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) brought home Childers and gave DC a 1-0 lead. Later, outfielder Ashley Martinez* (Bloomfield, NJ) singled up-the-middle to score two runs and give Dominican the eventual 3-0 victory.
Childers finished the game going 4-4, while Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) had two hits.
Childers improved to 9-4 overall with the victory, scattering just three hits and collecting 12 strikeouts in eight innings.
Game Two: Dominican struck for two runs in the first inning as catcher Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) received a bases loaded walk to score a run and Martinez later hit an RBI infield single.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the second and third inning as Jeppson reached on a fielder's choice in the second to score a run and Coles tripled to right field to score the 4th Dominican run of the game.
An RBI double by Martinez and a sacrifice fly ball hit by Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) put DC ahead 6-3 in the fifth and two more runs in the seventh on a single by pinch hitter Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) and a Devil error gave the Chargers an 8-5 victory.
Childers, Corrao and Julie Plante* (Swansea, MA) all collected two hits a-piece in the victory.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) improved to 5-4 overall in five innings of work, allowing two runs on eight hits and five strikeouts. Childers picked up her first save of the season as she pitched the sixth and seventh innings.
DC is back in action on Wednesday when they host Nyack College in CACC action to be played at the DC Softball Field.
