Philadelphia, PA (5/1/10) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, this afternoon in games played at McNeil Field. USP rallied from a 6-1 deficit to win game one, 9-6, while DC took game two by a score of 7-1.
DC scored three runs in the top of the first inning as catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ) hit an RBI single. Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) followed with a two-out infield single to plate a run and Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) drew a bases loaded walk to bring home the third Lady Charger run.
The Devils got a run back in the bottom stanza, but Dominican extended their lead to 6-1 with three more runs in the top of the third on singles by Garrison and Jessica Martinieri (Tampa, FL). A sacrifice fly ball to center field by shortstop Julie Plante (Swansea, MA) platted the sixth DC run of the game.
USP scored two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth to rally to the 9-6 victory.

In the fifth, a fielder's choice allowed Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) to reach base and a run to score and a sacrifice fly ball hit to right field by Scarillo put DC up 3-1. An RBI single up the middle by Plante brought in the first run of the sixth for Dominican, while Childers followed with a two-run double. With the split Dominican now stands at 31-13 overall and 21-3 in the CACC.
