# 8 LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL TAKE TWO FROM GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Wilmington, DE (4/25/09) The Dominican College softball team, ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region, extended their winning streak to 14 games with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header sweep of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon at Nancy C. Sawin Field. Dominican won the first game 2-0 and took the second game 7-4.
Wilmington, DE (4/25/09) The Dominican College softball team, ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region, extended their winning streak to 14 games with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header sweep of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon at Nancy C. Sawin Field. Dominican won the first game 2-0 and took the second game 7-4.
Dominican scored the game's first run in the top of the second as CACC Co-Player of the Week, Sarah Beck (Milton, NY), led off the inning with a single up the middle and then stole second to get in scoring position. Senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) delivered a one out RBI single up the middle to bring in Beck and give DC a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the fifth on an RBI single to left by second basemen Jessica Martinieri (Tampa, FL) to plate designated player Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA), who had singled earlier in the inning for the 2-0 victory.
CACC Rookie of the Week, Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY), got the complete game shut out victory, scattering just three hits and six strikeouts to improve to 15-5 on the season.
In game two, the Lady Chargers once again got on the board first with two runs in the third inning as junior Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) reached on a fielder's choice to score a run and an RBI sacrifice fly ball to center by shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ).
GBC cut the lead in half with a run in the third and took a 4-2 lead with a three run fourth inning. Dominican answered back with a five-run sixth inning to for the eventual 7-4 victory. Martinieri reached on a RBI fielder's choice and Philpot later drew a bases loaded walk. Piasecki's sacrifice fly ball to center scored Martinieri and a two out two-run double to centerfield by Beck gave the Lady Chargers the last two runs.
Pistilli picked up the win in 3 1/3 innings of relief, striking out five and allowing four hits. Starter Garrison went 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on two hits and five strikeouts.
With the victories Dominican improves to 33-12 overall and 19-2 in the CACC, while Goldey-Beacom falls to 18-20 overall and 7-13 in the CACC.
