# 8 LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL EXTEND WINNING STREAK WITH SWEEP OVER POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (4/23/09) The Dominican College softball team, ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region, extended their winning streak to 12 straight after a double-header sweep of Post University this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball action at the DC Softball Field.

Dominican scored the game's first run in the second inning as catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ) led off the inning with a solo blast over the left field fence. DC added to the lead with a five run third inning as junior right fielder Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) led off the inning with a double to left, followed by a walk to shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ). CACC Co-Player of the Week, Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) delivered an RBI single to center to plate Philpot and Scarillo singled through the left side to score Piasecki. With one out and two run designated player Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) blasted a three run home run over the centerfield fence to put the Lady Chargers up 6-0.
Post put a run on the board in the fourth and two in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-3, but Dominican answered back with another five run inning for the 11-3 win. Second basemen Jessica Martinieri (Tampa, FL) had an RBI single through the left side and back to back RBI walks to Philpot and Piasecki brought in two more runs. Beck delivered the game winning two run double to left field for the final 11-3 Lady Charger victory.
CACC Rookie of the Week, Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY), picked up the win (14-5) after allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and five strikeouts.
In game two Post got on the board with a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead but Dominican tied the game in the bottom stanza on an RBI double to right center by senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ).
The Lady Chargers took a 7-1 lead with a six run fourth inning as pitcher Garrison hit an RBI single to left field and Ollari later scored on a Eagle error. Piasecki walked with the bases loaded and Philpot was hit by the pitch to plate two runs and freshman Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) hit a sacrifice fly ball to center for the fifth DC run of the inning. Beck ended the scoring run with an RBI single up the middle.
Post answered back in the top of the fifth with five runs to cut the lead to 7-6. DC added two insurance runs in the fifth on a Garrison two run homer to right center and sealed the victory with two more runs in the sixth as Jeffson scored on an erro and Scarillo hit an RBI single to left for the 11-7 victory.
Garrison picked up the win in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and four strikeouts. Pistilli got her second save of the season in 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two strikeouts.
With the victory Dominican improves to 31-12 overall and 17-2 in the CACC.
