SOFTBALL CRUISES PAST PACE UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (3/31/09) The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers softball team cruised past the Pace University Setters, 6-4 and 12-1 in five innings in a non-conference double-header at Pace Field.

DC put three runs on the board in the first inning on an RBI single through the right side by shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) followed by a two out, two run double to centerfield by senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ). Ollari added to the lead in the third with her second double of the game, this time to right field at extend the lead to 5-0.
The Setters put two runs on the board in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-2, but the Lady Chargers pushed another run across in the fifth as Ollari reached on an fielding error which allowed a run to score. Pace added two runs in the ninth, but DC went on to the 6-4 victory.
Junior Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) picked up the win to improve to 7-1 on the season in six innings of work, allowing four runs on 11 hits and three strikeouts. Freshman hurler Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) picked up her first collegiate save pitching the seventh.
In game two, DC put runs on the board in the first three innings to take a 12-1 lead. In the first senior Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) hit a three run homer to left field to give Dominican a 3-0 lead. In the second junior Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) had an RBI double to left center, while Ollari later followed with an RBI double to right field. An infield single by Garrison platted a run and a two run double by junior Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) put DC up 9-0.
Beck added to the lead in the third with an RBI single to right center and catcher Nicole Scarillo (Perth Amboy, NJ) scored the game's final run as she hit a two run blast to left center as Dominican cruised to the 12-1 five inning victory.
Junior Laurie Edwards (Riverhead, NY) got the win to improve to 3-2, scattering four hits and four strikeouts.
With the wins Dominican improves to 17-6 overall.
