Orangeburg, NY (4/18/08) Freshman catcher Nicole Scarillo's (South Amboy, NJ) walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh secured a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Caldwell College this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won the first game 10-2 in five innings and pulled out the night cap, 7-6.

Nicole Scarillo's (South Amboy, NJ) walk off home
run in the bottom of the seventh secured a Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Caldwell College this
afternoon at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won the
first game 10-2 in five innings and pulled out the night cap, 7-6.
Game One: The Cougars got on the board in teh first with
an RBI single, but the Lady Chargers answered in the bottom stanza
with two runs to take the lead. Senior Jackie
Terpstra (Middletown, NY) reached on a fielder's choice
and later advanced to third on a wild pitch. First basemen
Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) followed with
an RBI single and short stop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth,
NJ) got an RBI single with two on to put DC ahead 2-1.
The Cougars tied the game in the third on an RBI single to right field, but once again the DC charged back with a seven run fourth inning on seven hits. Terpstra hit a three run blast over the center field fence and Piasecki had a one out RBI single to center to plate Knuth who had singled. With two outs Scarillo hit a three run shot over the center field fence to put DC ahead 9-2. DC added a run in the fifth on a RBI single by Knuth for the final 10-2 victory in five innings.
Senior hurler Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) got the win (11-9) allowing just two runs on three hits.
Game two: Dominican had a 4-0 lead through three innings, scoring runs in the second and third. In the second a single by Kristi Dillon (Staten Island, NY), followed by a Cougar error allowed two runs to score and in the third Piasecki and Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) had RBI singles.
The Cougars tied the game with a four run fourth inning on three hits and one DC error, but the Lady Chargers regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs as Piasecki hit a two run homer to center field.
The Cougars clawed back to knot the game at 6-6 in the sixth with two runs, but Scarillo's walk off home run to right center lifted DC to the 7-6 victory.
Starter Garrison went three innings in the no decision, allowing three runs (non earned) on four hits and three strikeouts. Stathes picked up the win (12-9) in four innings of relief, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and three strikeout
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 21-17 overall and 12-2 in the CACC.
