CHARGERS HAVE STRONG SHOWING AT BATTLE OF THE MADISON #2
Madison, N.J. (4/18/26) The Dominican University New York men's track and field team won three events and had 12 top five finishes at the Battle of the Madison #2 meet hosted by FDU-Florham.
The Chargers took the top spot in the 4x400m relay, the 800m run and the 400m hurdle events.
DUNY had six Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) qualifying times, three personal bests and three personal bests during the meet.
TOP FIVE FINISHES
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Samuel Fileen, Tyler Colebrook, Christopher Rodriguez Gonzalez and David Castro won the event with a time of 3:28.42. The team of Sam Anthony Samala, Connor Grable, Prince Copeland and Eliezer Rosario finished in fourth place of 3:35.25.
- Deshawn Douglas won the 800m run with a time of 2:02.05. Copeland was right behind him in second place with a time of 2:02.16.
- The 400m hurdles saw Colebrook win the event with a personal best and CACC qualifying time of 57.64. Nickoy Henry finished in second place with a time of 1:00.87 and Gonzalez took third place (1:02.87).
- Freshman Anthony Ramos took second place in the triple jump event with a CACC qualifying jump of 13.36m (43-10.00).
- The team of Rosario, Henry, Jayden Bryan and Colebrook took second place with a time of 44.23.
- In the 400m dash, Fileen took second place with a CACC qualifying time of 51.24.
- GianLuca Saggio had a third place finish in the shot put with a CACC qualifying throw of 13.05m (42-09.75).
- In the long jump event, Ramos took third place with a CACC qualifying jump of 6.52m (21-04.75).
- Zachary Dertinger finished in fifth place in the 5000m run with a time of 19:14.00.
FINISHES
- The discus throw saw Saggio take seventh place with a CACC qualifying throw of 36.64m (120-02).
- David Castro took eighth place int he 400m dash (53.82) followed by Grable (54.59) in 11th place, Samala (55.05) in 13th place, Steven Hanna (58.25) in 16th place and Jameel Richardson (1:02.89) in 20th place.
- In the 100m dash prelims, Rosario finished in 10th place with a time of 11.54, while Bryan took 17th place with a time of 11.77.
- Rosario also had a 10th place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 23.38. Bryan finished in 19th place (24.18), while Brandon Yrrizarry took 26th place (25.73).
- Eslian Henriquez Flores took 11th place in the 1500m run with a time of 5:08.28.
- Jonromiel Peralta took 14th place in the long jump (5.05m) (16-07.00).
