MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD HAVE SIXTH TOP FIVE FINISHES AT PURPLE & GOLD OPENER
West Chester, Pa. (3/20/26) The Dominican University New York men's track and field team opened the spring season at the Purple & Gold Opener held yesterday and today on the campus of West Chester University.
On Friday, senior Aidan Nelson won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:14.61.
Saturday saw Jean Franco Del Valle Guerrero win the high jump event (1.90m) and take second place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.68. The 4x400m relay team of Tyler Colebrook, Samuel Fileen, Nickoy Henry and Aaron Williams also have a second place finish with a time of 3:33.94.
FRIDAY RESULTS
- Nelson won the 3000m steeple chase with a time of 11:14.61.
- In the 1000m, Zachary Dertinger finished in fifth place with a time of 40:42.25, while Eslian Henriquez Flores took sixth place with a time of 43:00.19.
SATURDAY RESULTS - Top Five Finishes
- Guerrero won the high jump event with a jump of 1.90m (6-02.75)
- Guerrero took second place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.68.
- The 4x400m relay team of Colebrook, Fileen, Henry and Williams took second place with a time of 3:33.94.
- Anthony Ramos took fifth place in the triple jump with a jump of 12.98m (42-07.00)
SATURDAY RESULTS
- Copeland competed in the 800m run and took sixth place with a time of 2:03.64. Fileen ran a time of 2:06.93 to take 19th place and Deshawn Douglas finished in 26th place with a time of 2:09.47.
- Ramos finished in eighth place in the long jump with a jump of 5.79m (19-00.00). Jameel Richardson finished in 18th place with a jump of 4.13m (13-06.75)
- In the 400m dash, Tyler Colebrook took eighth place with a time of 52.34. Fileen finished in ninth place (52.46) and Henry took 19th place (53.21). Connor Grable ran a time of 54.60 to finish in 26th place, while Sam Anthony Samala took 31st place with a time of 56.19. Richardson finished in 34th place (56.72), followed by David Castro in 35th place (56.80) and Steven Hanna in 44th place (1:00.94).
- The shot put event saw GianLuca Saggio take ninth place with a throw of 11.91m (39-01.00).
- Colebrook finished in 10th place in the 200m dash with a time of 23.05. Henry finished in 15th place with a time of 23.24, while Eliezer Rosario ran a time of 23.64 to take 22nd place. Aidan Mallon finished in 42nd place with a time of 24.76, with Brandon Yrrizarry taking 59th place with a time of 26.44.
- The 100m dash saw Rosario take 19th place with a time of 11.54. Guerrero finished in 29th place with a time of 11.85, while Mallon took 43rd place with a time of 12.17.
- Copeland also ran in the 1500m run where he finished in 23rd place with a time of 4:28.13. Douglas took 25th place (4:29.62), while Aidan Nelson finished in 34th place (4:40.97). Dertinger followed in 53rd place (5:15.67) and Flores took 60th place (5:37.56).
- In the discus throw, Saggio took 28th place with a throw of 29.01m (95-02).
