Staten Island, N.Y. (9/24/25) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie in non-conference action with the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island this afternoon.
Two late goals by each team was the only scoring for the game. The Chargers now hold an overall record of 1-4-2 while CSI now stands at 1-3-2.
Charger keeper Miguel Hernandez made seven saves in his first start of the season while CSI keeper Luca Schelling made four saves.
The Chargers finished the game with nine shots, six in the first half and three in the second half. The Dolphins held the edge in shots with 15 as they took seven in the first half and eight in the second half.
The game was scoreless until the 84th minute when Senior captain Henrique Zachello was awarded a penalty kick and found the back of the net for the late 1-0 lead.
As time was running out, Hernandez made a big save to keep the lead but CSI earned a corner kick. Wolfgang Alvarado scored the game tying goal in the 89th minute off the corner kick with Peterson Larose and that's how the game would end.
The Chargers return to CACC play when they visit Thomas Jefferson University this Saturday afternoon.
