Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/7/23) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to the visiting Wildcat's of Wilmington University, 5-2, this afternoon in a game played on O'Brien Field.
Wilmington (4-4-2, 3-2-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of action, but Dominican (1-9, 1-4) tied the game at the 24:01 mark on the goal by Marouf Barry (Bronx, N.Y.).
A WU goal in the 25th minute of play would give the 'Cats a 2-1 advantage at the break.
An unassisted goal in the 51st minute would extend the lead to 3-1, but forward Armindo Ferreira (Yonkers, N.Y.) scored a goal at 67:30 to bring Dominican within a goal. Wilmington tacked on two more goals in the 77th and 87th minutes for the 5-2 win.
Charger keeper David Arteaga (Middlesex, N.J.) had a career high 15 saves in the loss.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to CACC foe, Post University.
