CHARGERS END SEASON WITH A WIN OVER WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/28/16) The Dominican College men's soccer team ended the season with a 3-1 win over the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/28/16)  The Dominican College men's soccer team ended the season with a 3-1 win over the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

The Chargers struck first with a goal in the 29th minute of play as junior Fernando Gutierrez (Mexico City, Mexico) scored his sixth goal of the year off the assist from midfielder Daniel Alvarado (Santa Barbara, Costa Rica).

The 'Cats tied the contest one minute later and the teams went into the intermission tied at 1-1.

DC scored a goal at 53:43 as sophomore Stefan Gualano (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) put the ball in the net off the corner kick assist from Alvarado. 

Freshman Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain) gave Dominican a two-goal lead (3-1) in the 70th minute with a goal following the pass from senior James Gragson (Topeka, Kan.).

The 'Cats had the 17-13 advantage in shots, while both teams finished with four corner kicks.

Senior keeper Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) mad four saves in the win.

Dominican ends the season with an overall record of 6-11 and a 5-7 CACC record.

Following the game the team honored seniors: #1 Hegner, #4 Tim Vuong (Wichita, Kan.), #8 Harry Solomons (Leicester, England), #11 Gragson, #12 Panagiotis Kanganis (Patras, Greece), #19 Calorgero Curcuru (Middle Village, N.Y.), #23 Vincent Grella (Glen Cove, N.Y.).
