SECOND HALF RALLY LEADS BEARS OVER CHARGERS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/19/16) The Bloomfield College Bears used a strong second half performance to rally from a 1-0 deficit and turn it into a 2-1 victory over host, Dominican College, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown on the DC Soccer Field.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/19/16)  The Bloomfield College Bears used a strong second half performance to rally from a 1-0 deficit and turn it into a 2-1 victory over host, Dominican College, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown on the DC Soccer Field.

The Dominican offense controlled the first half of play, outshooting the Bears, 8-4 and holding a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

DC (4-11, 3-7) scored at the 4:48 mark as junior Fernando Gutierrez (Mexico City, Mexico) recorded his fifth goal of the season.

The score would remain the same until the 60th minute when Bloomfield tied the game and netted the game-winner in the 65th minute to gain the 2-1 edge and eventual win.

Bloomfield rallied to outshoot the Chargers, 8-4 in the second frame and have a 7-0 lead in corners.

Both teams finished with 12 total shots and seven corners.

Charger keeper Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) recorded seven saves in the loss.

Dominican returns to action next Tuesday when they host Felician University in a CACC match up slated for 3:30 pm on the DC Soccer Field.
