GUTIERREZ LEADS CHARGERS TO OVERTIME VICTORY OVER CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/25/16) Junior forward Fernando Gutierrez (Mexico City, Mexico) scored the game-winning goal during the third minute of the first overtime period to lead Dominican College to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the DC Soccer Field.

(9/25/16) Junior forward Fernando Gutierrez (Mexico City, Mexico) scored the game-winning goal during the third minute of the first overtime period to lead Dominican College to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the DC Soccer Field.
Dominican took the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute of play when midfielder Daniel Alvarado (Santa Barbara, Costa Rica) received a pass from the 40 yard line from Michael Nastu* (Monroe, N.Y.) and drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the net.
The Griffins tied the game in the 39th minute and the teams went into the intermission with the score at 1-1.
DC regained the 2-1 lead at 49:23 when Gutierrez netted his first game goal off the pass from Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain). However, CHC rallied to re-tie the game in the 75th minute and eventually force overtime.
The game winner game at 93:39 when Gutierrez received the cross into the box from senior Harry Solomons* (Leicester, England) and then headed the ball into the lower right corner of the net for the 3-2 victory.
The Chargers held a 22-15 advantage in shots, while CHC had a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.
Gutierrez led the Chargers with two game goals.
Keeper Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) made five saves.
Following the win, Dominican improves to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
DC is back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Post University
