CHARGERS COME UP SHORT AGAINST GOLDEN FALCONS
Rutherford, N.J. (4/22/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against host, Felician University, 14-10, this evening in a conference game played on Tryon Field.
With the loss, the Chargers now stand at 3-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
Felican opened the game with the first four scores before the Chargers got on the board with a man-down goal from Sean Cosgrove.
Nickolas Paletta scored two unassisted goals in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 6-3 at the intermission.
Dominican scored two straight goals to start the third quarter as Paletta completed the hat trick with his third game goal off the pass from Chad Keyser. About 14 seconds later, Keyser scored his first goal of the game to bring the Chargers within a goal, 6-5. A 3-0 run by the Golden Falcons rebuilt a four-goal lead, but Cosgrove broke the run and closed out the third quarter with a goal to make the score, 9-6.
The fourth quarter saw Felician score back-to-back goals, but DUNY countered with two consecutive goals off the stick of Keyser with assists credited to Paletta and Michael Chies. Following another 2-0 Golden Falcon spurt, Keyser scored two more goals with Cosgrove assisting on the second goal to cut the lead to 13-10. Felician ended the game with a goal for the fianl 14-10 win.
Keyser led the Chargers with five goals and one assist.
Paletta finished with three scores and one assist, while Cosgrove had two goals and one assist. Chies tallied one assist in the loss.
Charger goalkeeper Bryce Layton made 12 saves in the contest.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow when they host non-conference opponent, St. Thomas Aquinas College at 4pm on O'Brien Field.
