Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/16/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell in conference action to the Lions of Georgian Court University on O'Brien Field.

The Chargers fall to 3-9 overall on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The Lions improve to 9-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

The first half was a battle between the goalkeepers. Charger goalkeeper Bryce Layton made 15 big saves in the game including 11 in the first half. GCU goalkeeper Vincent Burkhart picked up his ninth win on the season also recording 15 saves with eight coming in the first half.

The game was scoreless through the first 10 plus minutes before the Lions scored three unanswered goals in the last 4:21 of the quarter,

The Chargers answered with three unanswered in the second quarter by Sean Cosgrove, Jack Sherry, and Zachary Souza which sent the game into halftime tied at 3-3.

Six unanswered goals by the Lions in the third quarter pushed the GCU lead to 9-3.

DU opened the scoring in the fourth with consecutive goals one minute apart by Michael Chies and Steven Dupras to cut the deficit to 9-5.

GCU went on a three-goal run, extending their lead to 12-5 before Chad Keyser scored the final goal of the game for DU.

Aidan McGrath and Nate Melnick each picked up one assist in the game. Nickolas Paletta picked up a team-high eight ground balls while Josh Wesneski and Michael Aufiero each recorded five.

Jordan Scott, Aufiero, and Chies each recorded a team-high three caused turnovers. Wesneski finished 9-18 on faceoffs.

The Chargers return to action next Tuesday night when they visit Felician University.
