MEN'S LACROSSE LOSE TO WHEELING JESUIT UNIVERSITY
Wheeling, WV (5/5/12) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost to host, Wheeling Jesuit University, 14-5, this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) action played this afternoon. With the loss, Dominican falls to 1-11 overall and 0-8 in the ECC, while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 7-8 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

The Cardinals held a 3-0 lead after one quarter of play when attacker Daniel Steigert (Copiague, NY) scored a goal off the assist from Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) to make the score 3-1 with 12:55 to go in the second quarter.
From there WJU closed out the second quarter with three goals and continued on the run in the third with four more goals to pull ahead, 10-1. DC broke the run with just over two minutes to play in the third quarter as Steigert tallied his second goal of the game.
Wheeling Jesuit went up, 11-2 with the fourth quarter's first goal, but Lawlor scored an unassisted goal less than a minute later. The Cardinals scored three straight goals, but Dominican broke the run to end the game on a 2-0 spurt. Freshman midfielder Maxwell Odynski (Northport, NY) scored a goal and Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) netted the game's last goal for the 14-5 final score.
Junior goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) had a career high 22 saves in the loss.
DC is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Seton Hill University.
