#1 LAKERS DEFEAT MEN'S LACROSSE
Orangeburg, NY (4/28/12) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost to #1 Mercyhurst College, 10-3, this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) action played at the DC Lacrosse Field. The team celebrated Senior Day as today marked the final home game for seniors, Matthew Brown and Korin Pierce.

The team celebrated Senior Day as today marked the final home game for seniors, Matthew Brown and Korin Pierce.
During halftime, the Chargers honored Brown and Pierce and presented them with team jerseys, team and action photos and wrist corsages for their mothers.
The Lakers did the scoring in the first and second quarters to hold a 8-0 lead at the intermission. MC opened up third quarter play with their ninth goal.
Dominican got on the board with just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter as sophomore midfielder Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY) netted his 20th goal of the season to make the score 9-1. Attacker Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) followed with his 15th goal on the year off the assist from Pierce, his team leading 13th assist of the season, with 3:26 to go in the quarter to cut the deficit to 9-2. Mercyhurst closed out the third quarter with a goal to extend their lead to 10-2.
The Chargers scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter as junior attacker Daniel Steigert (Copaigue, NY) recorded a goal on a man-up opportunity, his fourth of the season, off the pass from freshman Maxwell Odynski (Northport, NY) for what would be the eventual 10-3 score.
Junior goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 14 saves in the loss.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 1-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play, while the Lakers improve to 12-0 overall and 9-0 in the ECC.
DC returns to action next weekend with road games against Wheeling Jesuit University and Seton Hill University.
