#3 DOWLING COLLEGE UPENDS CHARGERS LACROSSE
Orangeburg, NY (4/4/12) The #3 Dowling College Golden Lions upended host, Dominican College, 19-4 in East Coast Conference (ECC) action played on the DC Lacrosse Field this afternoon. With the win, Dowling improves to 6-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Chargers fall to 0-7 overall and 8-4 in the ECC.

With the win, Dowling improves to 6-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Chargers fall to 0-7 overall and 8-4 in the ECC.
Dominican was first to score in the contest as junior attacker Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) netted his third goal of the season to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead with 9:48 left in the first quarter.
From there, the scoring was all Dowling as they went on an 18-0 run that spanned the first through fourth quarters.
The Chargers broke the Golden Lion run with 7:52 left in the fourth quarter and went on to score three unanswered goals, all scored by sophomore Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY). His first goal was a man-up opportunity off a pass from senior attacker Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA). Almost two minutes he later he recorded his second goal of the contest and completed the hat trick and team leading 12th goal of the season with 1:46 to go off the assist from Lawlor.
Dowling closed out the game with a goal with 1:19 left to play for the final 19-4 score.
Dertinger led the Chargers with four points (3 goals, 1 assist), while Lawlor finished with two points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Junior goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 11 saves in the loss.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday as they host Roberts Wesleyan College in a non-conference game to be played at the DC Lacrosse Field.
