KNIGHTS RALLY TO DEFEAT MEN'S LACROSSE
Madison, NJ (3/27/12) The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Knights rallied with four goals in each of the third and fourth quarters to defeat the Dominican College men's lacrosse team, 11-7, this evening. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-5 overall, while FDU-Florham improves to 4-3 on the season.

The Chargers controlled the offense in the first quarter as they recorded three goals. Sophomore midfielder Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY) scored the first goal of the game with 12:50 to play. Attacker Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) put Dominican ahead 2-0 off the pass from senior Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA). Pierce closed out first quarter scoring with an unassisted goal for the 3-0 lead.
The Knights converted on a man-up opportunity to cut the lead to 3-1, but DC went on a 2-0 spurt with goals scored by Pierce and Dertinger and assist credited to Connor Lawlor* (Neptune City, NJ) to take a 5-1 lead with 8:05 left before halftime. FDU-Florham closed out the second quarter with two straight goals and opened up the third quarter with two more goals to tie the game at 5-5.
Pierce netted his second goal of the game with 5:40 left in the third quarter off Lawlor's second assist of the night to regain a 6-5 lead for the Chargers. From there the Knights went on another 4-0 run that spanned the rest of the third quarter and began the fourth quarter. Delaney broke the run with his second goal of the game off the assist from Daniel Steigert (Copaigue, NY) to make the score 9-7 with under seven minutes remaining and FDU-Florham ended the game with two goals for the 11-7 final.
Pierce led the Chargers with three goals and one assist for four points.
Delaney finished with two goals, while Lawlor had two assists.
Goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) had 11 saves in the loss.
Dominican is back in action on Friday when they travel to Mercy College in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game.
