MOLLOY COLLEGE LIONS BEAT CHARGERS LACROSSE
Rockville Centre, NY (3/24/12) The Molloy College Lions defeated the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 14-6, this afternoon in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the ECC, while Molly improves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Molloy opened the game with a 3-0 run, but the Chargers got on the board before the end of the quarter as attacker Daniel Steigert (Copiague, NY) took a pass from Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) and found the back of the net to make the score 3-1.
Senior Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) cut the deficit to 3-2 with his fifth goal of the season off the assist from Anton Gjeloshi (Pomona, NY) with 9:10 to play before halftime. From there, the Lions closed out first half play with a 3-0 run to claim a 6-2 lead at the intermission.
Dominican cut the lead to 6-3 as midfielder Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY) scored a man-up goal after a pass from Pierce with 13:41 to go in the third quarter. Another 3-0 spurt by Molloy gave them a 9-3 lead and Dertinger scored his second goal of the game to end the third quarter with the scoring being 9-4.
Two goals by the Lions made the score 11-4, but Lawlor scored an unassisted goal with just under twelve minutes remaining to cut the lead to 11-5. The Chargers final goal of the game came with 7:06 to play as attacker Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) netted his team leading eighth goal of the year off the pass from Dertinger.
Dertinger led the Chargers with two goals on the day.
Charger goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 14 saves in the loss.
DC is back in action on Tuesday evening when they take on FDU-Florham at 7pm.
