Albany, NY (3/20/12) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell to host, College of Saint Rose, 18-7, this evening in a non-conference game. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-3 overall, while the College of Saint Rose improves to 3-2 on the season.

The Golden Knights scored the first goal of the game just 26 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Junior attacker Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) tied the game with an unassisted goal less than a minute later for a 1-1 score.
Saint Rose regained a two goal lead almost two minutes later, but sophomore Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) netted his first goal of the game to make the score 2-2. The Golden Knights closed out the first quarter with three goals for a 5-2 lead.
The Golden Knights outscored the Chargers 2-1 in the second quarter, with the Charger goal coming off the stick of Delaney with 3:50 to play before the break and the score stood at 7-3 at halftime.
Saint Rose added two goals to start off the third quarter and increase their lead to 9-3, but sophomore midfielder Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY) went on a 2-0 DC run with assists credited to Delaney and senior Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) to cut the deficit to 9-5. Delaney completed the hat trick with his third goal of the game with under a minute to go in the third quarter off the pass from Lawlor to make the score 11-6 after three quarters of play.
In the fourth quarter, Saint Rose went on a 7-0 run to go ahead 18-6 before junior Daniel Steigert (Copaigue, NY) closed out the scoring with a goal off the assist by Dertinger for the final 18-7 score.
Goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 11 saves in the loss.
Dominican will close out the week on the road against Molloy College in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game.
