Mercy took an early 1-0 lead, but Dominican went on a 2-0 run with goals scored by Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA) and Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) off an assist by Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) to take a 2-1 lead. A Maverick goal with 1:20 left in the first quarter tied the game, but DC closed out the first quarter with Metoyer's second goal of the game for a 3-2 lead.
Dominican continued on their run with four goals in the second quarter and two to start the third to complete a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 9-2. Metoyer completed the hat trick with his third goal of the game with 7:07 left before the intermission. Senior Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) scored an unassisted goal, while Jones tallied his second and third goals of the game to close the half with a 7-2 Charger lead. Metoyer recorded his first assist of the day on Jones's second goal.
Jones scored his fourth goal of the game to start things off in the third quarter, while Montalbano added his second goal of the game off the dish from junior Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). Mercy broke the run with a goal with 11:30 left in the third quarter, but Dominican netted two more goals off the sticks of Peterson and Jones to bring their lead up to 11-4 after three quarters of play.
DC scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter as senior Christopher Krutzler (Rockville Centre, NY) got his first goal of the game and Metoyer netted his fourth goal of the game after converting the man-up opportunity off the pass from attacker Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) to go up 14-4. Mercy went on a quick 2-0 spurt to cut the deficit to 14-6, but the Chargers ended the game with two straight goals as Daniel Steigert (Copiague, NY) and Andrew Rendine (River Edge, NJ) each scored a goal with Christopher Jones (Saugerties, NY) assisting on Rendine's goal for the 16-6 victory.
Charger goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made seven saves in 54:58 minutes in the net, while freshman Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) had one save in 5:02 of action.
With the victory Dominican improves to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in the ECC.
