PANTHERS UPENDS MEN'S BASKETBALL
Garden City, N.Y. (12/16/25) The Dominican University New York men's basktball team fell in a non-conference game to host, Adelphi University, 82-77, this evening in a game played at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
With the win the Panthers, who received votes in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top 25 Poll, improve to 9-1 on the season, while the Chargers now stand at 6-3 overall.
Dominican opened the game with the first five points, but the Panthers would rally to take a 19-10 lead with under 12 minutes left in the first half. An 11-2 Charger run would tie the game at 21-21 with 8:15 on the clock and later a Michael O'Mahony tip-in as time expired would cut the deficit to 44-39 at the break.
The second half would be a see saw battle with neither team holding more than a six-point advantage through the first 10 minutes. Back-to-back baskets from Elijah Peters would put Dominican ahead, 72-69 with 5:27 to go, but Adelphi would close out the final two minutes with a 6-0 run to claim the 82-77 win.
Peters would come off the bench to score a team best 17 points (7-12 from the floor) and six rebounds in the loss.
Starter Koi D. Kirk, Jr. netted 15 points and seven caroms, while Key'Sean Maynard and Chance Morrish scored 11-points a piece. Morrish added a team best four assists.
Isaiah Honis pulled down a game best 11 rebounds and added eight points.
The Chargers are back in action this weekend at the Holiday Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada where they will take on #7 Lubbock Christian (Texas) and (RV) Montana State-Billings in non-conference games.
