DOMINICAN CHARGES PAST SPARTANS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/13/21) The Dominican College men's basketball team charged past the visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 95-82, this evening in the final game of the 2021 Charger Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Dominican College on Coach Baxter Court.

With the win Dominican improves to 2-0 overall, while the Spartans fall to 2-1 on the year.
Senior Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) led four Chargers in double figures and recorded the game's only triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and ten assists, while adding four teals.
Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted 19 points and Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) scored 18 points and five rebounds.
Guard Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) had 15 points, eight assists and two steals.
Freshman Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) came off the bench to score eight points and four assists.
The Spartans were led by Osbel Carabello's 29 points.
The contest was tied at 19-all with 12:22 left in the first half when Dominican went on a 13-6 run to pull ahead 32-25. A Ryan Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.) free throw made the score 40-32, but the Spartans closed out the half on a 4-0 run to make the score 40-36 at the intermission.
STAC would cut the lead to four points (50-46) with 14:23 left in regulation, but the Charger offense kept on the offensive and took their biggest lead of the game (70-54) with just under eight minutes to play on a Burgess trey. DC closed out the game on a 5-0 run to bring home the big win.
Dominican returns to action next Saturday when they host Mercy College in the second game of the 9th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament, hosted by Dominican College.
