RALLY FALLS SHORT AS #4 CHARGERS FALL TO #5 COUGARS
Albany, N.Y. (3/13/21) The #4 Dominican College men's basketball team saw the 2021 season come to an end tonight as they fell to #5 Caldwell University, 65-62, in a NCAA Division II East Regional Quarterfinal game.

Following the loss, Dominican ends their season with a record of 4-4, while the Cougars improve to 6-4 and advance to the semis tomorrow evening where they will take on the top seed, St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Junior Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) opened the contest with the first two baskets to give DC the early 4-0 advantage, but the Cougars answered and later tied the game at 9-all with a little over 12 minutes left.
Caldwell continued on the offensive with 15 straight points to jump ahead 22-11 and would lead by as many as 18 points (38-21). Dominican ended the half with the final basket on a trey from Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 39-24.
Burgess led DC in the first half with seven points, while Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) added six points. Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) pulled down six rebounds to go along with five points in the half.
The Chargers opened the second half by going on a 12-2 run, with six of the points coming from Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to five points (41-36) with 16:33 remaining.
Down by seven points (61-53) with a little over two minutes to play, Dominican scored the next six points to pull within a single possession (61-59) with under a minute to go. Four quick Cougar points rebuilt a 65-59 lead, but Burgess closed out the contest with a deep trhee point basket for the final 65-62 loss.
Bugess led Dominican and recorded a double double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Forward Wilcox finished with 16 points and a game best 13 boards, while Serrano and Johnson each netted 10 points in the loss.
