BURGESS NAMED CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER AND DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR; WILCOX JOINS HIM ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
New Haven, Conn. (3/3/21) Dominican College standout Jalen Burgess on Wednesday swept the major year-end player awards for the 2020-21 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball season, as he claimed player of the year and defensive player of the year. The announcement was made by Commissioner Dan Mara, as the voting for the all conference and major awards in the sport was conducted by the league's seven head coaches who had teams competing in the sport this winter.

The announcement was made by Commissioner Dan Mara, as the voting for the all conference and major awards in the sport was conducted by the league's seven head coaches who had teams competing in the sport this winter.
Burgess ranks second in the CACC in scoring (16.6 ppg), while currently topping the charts in rebounding at 11.7 boards an outing. He also ranks second in the CACC in steals with 17. Burgess has helped lead Dominican to a 4-3 record this season, as the Chargers are in the thick of the race for earning a bid to next week's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in Albany, N.Y. Burgess also garnered a spot on the All-CACC Men's Basketball Team.
Bloomfield College's Gerald Holmes was named the CACC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year for guiding the Bears to a 6-3 record and the conference regular season championship. Bloomfield is one of the leading contenders for earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The other major award handed out on Wednesday was Concordia College winning the CACC Men's Basketball Team Sportsmanship Award for demonstrating outstanding character throughout the winter campaign.
Joining Burgess in earning all-conference accolades from Dominican College is sophomore Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.). The forward ranks third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, fourth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage and ninth infield goals. Wilcox is second on the Chargers in scoring and rebounding
