BURGESS RECORDS A DOUBLE-DOUBLE AS MEN'S BASKETBALL IS EDGED BY NYACK COLLEGE

The Chargers fall to 2-1 (2-1 CACC) after suffering their first loss of the season. The Warriors improve 2-1 (2-1 CACC).
Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) recorded a double-double for DC with a team-high 22 points and 11 rebounds. Burgess also recorded six steals and four assists. Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) finished the game with 14 points while Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 12 points. Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished the game with 11 points and recorded six rebounds
The Chargers finished the game shooting 45.6% from the field.
For the Warriors, Isayas Aris finished the game with a double-double by scoring 21 points and added 11 boards. Joel Bailey scored 14 points and recorded a team-high seven assists. Tunde Scrivner added 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Both teams played a competitive back and forth game. The largest lead for the Warriors was seven and the largest lead DC held was five. The game also had 12 ties and 11 lead changes. Nyack held a lead through most of the first half and by halftime led DC by a score of 26-25.
The second half was just as evenly matched as the first half. Down the stretch, Jalen Burgess hit a three-pointer to put DC up 64-63. On Nyack's next possession, Joel Bailey was fouled with nine seconds left to play.
Bailey hit both free throws to put the Warriors on top 65-64 which helped secure the victory.
The Chargers will look to bounce back on Thursday, February 11th when they visit the Bloomfield College Bears for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at 6:00 P.M.
