MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON OVER GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/28/21) The Dominican College Men’s Basketball team opened the 2021 season with a 76-68 win over Georgian Court University. The game was also the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener for both teams.

The Chargers improved to 1-0 (1-0 CACC) with the win in the season opener. The Lions fall to 0-1 (0-1 CACC).
Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all scorers with 27 points including four three-pointers, and added two rebounds. Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) earned a double-double off the bench by scoring 16 points and recorded a team-high 10 rebounds.
Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) and Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) each scored 11 points. Grant added three rebounds, three assists, and one steal while Wilcox recorded two assists and two rebounds. Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) recorded a team-high six assists.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 56.0% from the field and 64.7% from three-point range.
The Chargers held a 35-25 lead at halftime over GCU. The Chargers followed up the strong first half with a strong second half. DC extended to their largest lead of the game which was 17 points. GCU was able to cut the deficit, but the Chargers were able to close out the 76-68 victory.
For the Lions, Davon Floyd scored a team-high 16 points and added five rebounds and two assists. Kim Speller finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Shane Williams added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The Chargers will look to earn back-to-back wins to open the season on Saturday, January 30th when they travel to Caldwell University for a conference game with the Cougars at 1:00 P.M
