GRANT NETS GAME WINNER OVER DEVILS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/4/17) Freshman guard Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) netted a career high 27 points and hit the game-winning jumper with three seconds left in regulation to give the Dominican College Chargers a 64-62 victory over the visiting Devils from the University of the Sciences in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played tonight on Coach Baxter Court. Tonight also marked the 11th Annual James Clancy Memorial Game.

Tonight also marked the 11th Annual James Clancy Memorial Game.
Following a Charger timeout with four seconds to play, Grant received a pass and hit the game-winner. The Devils did get off a shot as time expired but it missed the hoop.
Junior forward Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) grabbed a team high eight rebounds and scored 11 points.
Matthew Latka (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) provided depth off the bench with eight points, four caroms and two assists. Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) also netted eight points.
Dominican led 18-13 with 8:21 left in the first half following consecutive free throws from Latka when the Devils scored eight straight points to go up, 21-18. A three-point basket from Austin John Huggins (Astoria, Queens) would later bring DC within three, 28-25, with 1:53 on the clock and Grant would close out the half with six points to give the Chargers the 31-30 edge at the break.
The Chargers trailed 55-49 with under ten to play when the team charged back with an 11-5 run to tie the game at 60-60. Grant would tie the score at 62-62 with 1:36 left on a jumper and later sealed the victory.
DC improves to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in CACC play.
The team will travel to CACC opponent, Wilmington University, this coming Saturday.
