DOMINICAN WINS ON NIGHT ONE OF 5TH ANNUAL DANIEL SULLIVAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/18/16) The Dominican College men's basketball team improved to 3-1 overall after defeating LIU Post University, 66-50, this evening in game two of the 5th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament. In the first game of the night, Concordia College upended Mercy College, 80-76.

Junior Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted a night best 19 points and added six rebounds.
Teammate Austin John Huggins (Astoria, Queens) added 12 points and four caroms, while Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) came off the bench to score nine points. Freshman Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) had a game high six assists, to go along with six boards.
The Chargers never trailed in the contest as they began the game on a 10-2 run and an Arjon Beqiri (Yonkers, N.Y.) increased the lead to 14-5 with 10:50 remaining in the first half. Nine straight Pioneer points tied the score at 14-all, but five quick DC points regained the lead and they went into the locker room with a 25-19 advantage.
Dominican led by as many as 23 points (49-26) with under ten minutes to go en route to the win.
DC will take on Mercy College tomorrow evening in the finale of the 5th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament. Game time is slated for 8pm on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
