Wilmington led 14-13 with 13:50 remaining in the first half when DC answered back with seven straight points, capped off by an and-one play from Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) to pull in front 20-14 and went on to score the next nine of 12 points to gain a double-digit advantage, 29-17, with just under six minutes left in the half. DC led 32-21 when WU went on a 14-2 first half closing run to regain the 35-34 edge.
The 'Cats led 49-57 with 8:33 on the clock when DC once again rallied with a 13-4 run to go ahaead, 62-61 with 3:39 to play. WU netted five unanswered points to secure the 68-66 victory.
Irvin came off the bench to lead Dominican with the double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds, while adding four steals.
Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 12 points and five rebounds, while Joe Clinton* (Pearl River, N.Y.) had a team high six assists.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 7-14 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
DC returns to action next Saturday afternoon when they host Philadelphia University in the 28th Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Game.
