PORTER AND QUIMBY NAMED TO 2012 ALL-MET DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
Orangeburg, NY (4/21/12) Dominican College men's basketball players, Leon Porter and Cory Quimby, have been named to the 2012 All-Met Division II Men's basketball team as was announced by the Met Basketball Writers Association today. Both players were named to the All-Met First Team.
Orangeburg, NY (4/21/12) Dominican College men's basketball players, Leon Porter and Cory Quimby, have been named to the 2012 All-Met Division II Men's basketball team as was announced by the Met Basketball Writers Association today. Both players were named to the All-Met First Team.
Porter, a 5-5 junior guard from Laurel, MD,average 17.3 points per game (2nd in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference), dish out 143 assists (4th in CACC) and a .389 (60-of-148) which ranked seventh among conference leaders. He was named to the All-CACC First Team and was a second-team ECAC All-Star selection. This is Porter's third All-Met selection, but his first First Team accolades as he was named to the Second Team in both 2010 and 2011.
Quimby, a 6-6 junior center from Otisville, NY, ranked third among CACC scoring leaders at 18.1 points per game while adding 11.4 rebounds per contest, which also ranked second among NCAA national leaders. He makes his first appearance on the All-Met First Team after being named to the NABC First Team, the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) Co-Player of the Year , the All-CACC First Team, the Daktronics East All-Region Second Team and a first-team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star choice.
The Chargers to a 19-9 overall record and a second-place finish in the CACC North Division.
