EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY UPENDS CHARGERS BASKETBALL
Caldwell, NJ (12/19/09) The East Stroudsburg University Warriors improved to 8-0 after upending the Dominican College Chargers, 78-74 this afternoon at the ECAC Holiday Classic hosted by Caldwell College.

The first half was a tight knit battle with numerous lead changes and neither team leading by more than six points. DC held two six point leads at 12:33 and 11:46, but ESU rallied to head into the intermission with a 32-30 lead.
Dominican opened up the second half with a three point basket by senior Brendan McManus (Pearl River, NY) to take an early 33-32 lead and led 40-37 with 17:23 remaining on a layup by freshman guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD). A 6-0 spurt by the Warriors gave them a 43-40 lead which they would not relinquish in the second half.
Trailing 71-63 with 3:30 left in regulation, the Chargers went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to three points, but that would be as close as they would get as ESU hung on for the 78-74 victory.
Junior guard Jamell Cromartie (White Plains, NY) came off the bench to lead four Chargers in double figures iwth 17 points as he went 4-5 from three point land. Porter finished with 14 points, shooting 5-10 from the floor, while rookie center Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) netted 12 points and had a team leading eight rebounds in the loss. Senior forward Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) contributed 10 points.
With the loss Dominican falls to 5-4 on the season.
Dominican is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow afternoon at the ECAC Holiday Classic as they take on Adelphi University at 2pm on the campus of Caldwell College.
