CHARGERS END SEASON AT 2021 NCAA DIVISION II ATLANTIC/EAST SUPER REGIONAL

North East, Pa. (5/8/21) The Dominican College men's golf team concluded the 2021 season with a 16th place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Lakeview Country Club.

North East, Pa. (5/8/21) The Dominican College men's golf team concluded the 2021 season with a 16th place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Lakeview Country Club.

The Chargers finished day three with a team score of 319, their best team score of the three-day tournament, for a toal score of 979 for the Super Regional and 16th palce finish.

Alexander Lundvall (Stockholm, Sweden) was the top finisher for Dominican as he tied for 50th place with a combined score of 240.  In action today, Lundvall had his best round of the tournament with a 78 and two birdies on holes one and 15.  His previous round scores were 80 and 82.

Freshman Alejandro Gomez Cervantes (Torreon, Mexico) finished in a tie for 59th place with a three-day total score of 242.  Today, Cervantes scored a 79 (+7) with a birdie on hole 13 after rounds of 78 and 85.

Nicholas Arrieta (Bucaramanga, Colombia) took 71st place overall with scores of 82, 81 and 85 for the three-day total of 248.

Teammates Juan David Fajardo (Bogota, Columbia) and Daniel Acosta Murguia (Torreon, Mexico) finished in 77th and 79th place, respectively.  Fajardo had his best day today with a score of 82, recording a birdie on hole 14.  His first and second round scores were and 84 and 88 for a combined 254 score.  Murguia also had his best round on day three with an 80 (+8) today following back-to-back birdies on holes five and six.  His combined score for the tournament was 257 after first and second round scores of 87 and 90.

The top four teams at the Super Regional advance to NCAA Division II Championships, along with the top individual from a non-advancing team.  The Division II Championships will be held at PGA National in Palm Beach, Fla. and hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University.
