New Haven, Conn. (7/23/26) The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference will sponsor a championship in women's flag football for the first time in 2027, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today. The inaugural CACC Women's Flag Football Championship will be a four-team event hosted by Chestnut Hill College on its Philadelphia, Pa., campus on Saturday, April 24.
Seven CACC institutions sponsor women's flag football, including four who will be playing their first varsity seasons in 2027. The schools will compete in a 12-game, double round-robin regular-season conference schedule with the top four teams advancing to the championship. The semifinals and finals will be conducted in a single day at the Chestnut Hill Athletic Field.
One of the fastest-growing sports in the country, women's flag football was added to the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program in January. Approximately 60 NCAA schools offered it at the varsity level in spring 2026, including Chestnut Hill, Holy Family University, and Post University from the CACC. Flag football will also debut in the Olympic Games in 2028 in Los Angeles.
"Hosting our first CACC Women's Flag Football Championship in 2027 is going to be a landmark moment for our conference," Mara said. "Flag football has exploded in popularity, and providing our student-athletes with the stage to compete for an inaugural CACC championship title is something we're immensely proud to deliver. We can't wait to celebrate history when we crown our very first champion."
Admission for the CACC Championship is $10 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. The CACC Network will also provide live coverage of the tournament.
