SPARTANS UPEND CHARGERS BASEBALL
Pomona, N.Y. (4/1/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell in non-conference action to the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 12-10, this evening in a game played at Clover Stadium.
With the loss, the Chargers are now 13-15 overall.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth when they Spartan offense struck for six runs. The Chargers got a run back in the bottom half of the inning on the sacrifice fly ball by Davin Keddell-Tuckey.
Dominican added a run in the fifth on the RBI single by Kevin Hirsch and one in the sixth on the RBI single to centerfield off the bat of Fraelyn Rosario to make the score 6-3.
A four-run top of the seventh by STAC rebuilt a 10-3 advantage, but the Dominican offense charged back into the game with five-runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh. Catcher Gage Agate drew a bases loaded walk for a run and later Rosario blasted a grand slam home run to make the score 10-8.
The Spartans got two runs back in the eight on a two-run home run to make the score 12-8. In the bottom of the ninth, pinch hitter Erick Diaz led off the inning with a solo home run and later Jaden Maia singled up-the-middle to plate a run for the final 12-10 score.
Chad Falcon went 3-6 in the game, while Rosario had five RBIs.
Starter Christian Morgan took the loss.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow morning when they host Caldwell University.
