CHARGERS COMPLETE SERIES WITH VICTORY OVER LIONS
Pomona, N.Y. (3/29/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team completed the season series with the Lions of Georgian Court University with an 11-6 victory this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at Clover Stadium.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 13-13 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
GCU opened the game with a run in the first, but DUNY countered with a run in the second for a 1-1 score.
The Lions retook the lead in the fourth, but Dominican rallied with three runs in their half of the inning for a 4-2 lead. Byron Arias doubled to right centerfield to plate a run and two batters later, Kevin Hirsch delivered a two-run single for the lead.
Both teams scored a run in the fifth with Chad Falcon producing a run-scoring single up-the-middle to make the score 5-3.
Dominican added three runs in the sixth on a single by Davin Keddell-Tuckey, a fielder's choice and a single off the bat of Jason Amor to increase the Charger lead to 8-3.
Georgian Court added two runs in the eighth inning to bring them within three runs, but the Chargers added three runs in the bottom of the inning on a throwing error and a run-scoring double by Juan Peralta to make the score 11-5.
GCU scored a run in the top of the ninth for the final 11-6 Charger win.
Shortstop Fraelyn Rosario went 3-5 in the game with three runs scored.
Arias, Jaden Maia, Tuckey and Amor had two hits each in the win.
Starter Jason Murphy earned the win in five innings of work and collecting six strikeouts.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Post University.
