Pomona, N.Y. (3/21/26) Designated hitter Kevin Hirsch hit three three-run home runs today as the Dominican University New York baseball team swept the visiting Lions of Lincoln University (Pa) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played today at Clover Stadium.
The Chargers took the first game, 9-6 and won the nightcap, 16-1 to improve to 10-10 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Game One: A single from third basemen Byron Arias got the Chargers on the board in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lions would tie the score with a run in the third.
DUNY re-took the lead in their half of the third on a run-scoring single through the right side from Jaden Maia and added two more runs in the fifth on the two-run single to center field off the bat of Juan Peralta to extend the lead to 4-1.
LU scored two runs in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3, but a bases loaded walk and an RBI single by Hirsch made the score 6-3. Two home runs by the Lions tied the game in the top of the eighth, but Hirsch blasted a three-run shot over the right field fence in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Chargers to the 9-6 win.
Hirsch went 3-5 in the game with four RBIs.
Arias collected two hits and two RBIs, while Peralta finished with two RBIs.
Reliever Yanka Pineda Santana picked up the win in one and 2/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: The Chargers scored runs in the first five innings en route to the 16-1 victory.
Hirsch went 3-4 in the game with two runs scored and six RBIs. He had two three-run home runs, one to right field in his first at-bat and one over the left field promenade in the bottom of the third inning.
Right fielder Maia went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while catcher AJ Giannetti went 3-3 in the contest.
Fraelyn Rosario collected two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Erick Diaz also had two hits and two RBIs in the win.
Starter Tanner MacLean earned the complete game victory, allowing one run on four hits and picking up seven strikeouts.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to non-conference foe, Adelphi University.
