DOMINICAN DOWNS PACE UNIVERSITY
Pleasantville, N.Y. (3/10/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team downed the Setters of Pace University in non-conference action this afternoon at the Peter X. Finnerty stadium.
The Chargers improve to 4-7 overall early on this season while the Setters fall to 4-5 overall.
The Chargers got on the board quick after a solo homer by Erick Diaz to lead off the game. Dominican followed up the first inning with nine total runs over the next three innings.
Dominican added two runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh as they extended to a 13-1 lead.
Pace added three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning before the Chargers had a huge eight run top of the ninth.
The ninth inning rally was highlighted Chad Falcon's fourth hit of the game and pinch hit RBI-singles by Jean Nunez and Jason Amor. The Chargers capped off the win after the ninth inning rally.
Dominican recorded 22 total hits. Kevin Hirsch led DU with five hits, including a homer, while driving in one RBI and scored three runs.
Diaz finished 3 for 6 adding a triple on top of his lead off homer and a team-high four RBIs. Falcon picked up a double and a triple while AJ Giannetti and Juan Peralta each drove in three RBIs.
Peralta finished with three hits including a double while Giannetti also added a double.
Fraelyn Rosario added two hits and two RBIs.
DU starting pitcher Jason Murphy tossed five innings while picking up four strikeouts and recorded the win. Yanka Pineda Santana entered the game in the sixth inning and threw a four inning save and also earned four strikeouts.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow afternoon for their conference and home opener against Holy Family University.
