CHARGERS WRAP UP SPRING TRIP AGAINST WILDCATS
Cary, N.C. (3/8/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team wrapped up their trip to Cary, N.C. with a loss to Wayne State College from the USA Training Complex this afternoon.
After the loss, the Chargers fall to 3-7 overall. The Wildcats improve to 10-9 after the win.
DU starting pitcher AJ Mitchell tossed 4.2 innings and surrendered two earned runs and three hits while picking up two strikeouts but suffered the loss.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inining when AJ Giannetti drove in the game's first run on his first of two hits on the day.
The Wildcats had a quick response in the bottom half of the fourth inning on an RBI groundout and then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth after a solo homer by Easton Leahy.
The Chargers tied the game after Chad Falcon picked up an RBI after reaching on a fielder's choice.
The Wildcats rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as they extended to a 7-2 lead. WSC added one run in the seventh inning for the 8-3 lead.
Falcon drove in his second RBI of the game after an eighth inning double to left field.
WSC added their ninth run of the game in the eighth inning.
Giannetti finished with two hits while Erick Diaz also added two hits. Kevin Hirsch and Davin Keddell-Tuckey each added one hit.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday when they visit non-conference opponent Pace University for a 3:00 PM first pitch.
