Cary, N.C. (3/6/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team split in action played today at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The Chargers opened the day with a 6-3 win over the Cavaliers of Walsh University, but lost 12-1 to Adelphi University.
Following the split, Dominican is now 2-6 on the season.
Game One: The Chargers scored a run in their first at-bat on the run-scoring single by designated hitter Kevin Hirsch for the early lead. Walsh scored a run in the second and added two more runs in the third to claim a 3-1 lead.
Dominican would rally in the seventh inning when center fielder Erick Diaz blasted a two-out three-run homer to jump ahead for the eventual 6-3 final score.
Diaz went 3-5 in the game with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Reliever Robert Liriano earned the win in four innings of relief and collecting five strikeouts.
Starter Samuel Herrera strike out five batters in the first five innings of the game.
Game Two: The night cap saw the Panthers lead 6-0 en route to the 12-1 win.
Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when shortstop Fraelyn Rosario hit an RBI single.
Rosario had two of Dominican's hits in the game.
Starter Luis Rivera took the loss in 2 1/3 innings of work.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow when they take on Saint Anselm College.
