TROJANS OUTLAST CHARGERS IN HIGH SCORING GAME
Mount Olive, N.C. (3/3/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team opened a two game series with the Trojans of Mount Olive University this afternoon.
The Trojans defeated the Chargers 16-13 in a high scoring affair as they improve to 8-8 overall. After the loss, the Chargers fall to 1-4 overall.
Seven total runs were scored in the first inning by both teams with the Chargers jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top half of the first highlighted by a two-run double by Kevin Hirsch and an RBI-single by Byron Arias.
After the Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, the Chargers added two runs in the top half of the second and the Trojans scored one run in the bottom half.
Both teams scored five runs each over the fourth and fifth innings. The Trojans rallied for six runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to jump ahead of the Chargers 15-11.
A two-run single by Chad Falcon in the top half of the eighth inning cut the deficit to 15-13.
Mount Olive added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning and later closed out the win.
Hirsch added a homer in the fourth inning as he finished the game 2-4 with three RBIs and scored three runs. Jaden Maia also homered and finished 2-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
Falcon and Arias each added two hits while Erick Diaz went 2-4 including a double and two RBIs.
The Chargers wrap up their two game series with the Trojans tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM.
