BASEBALL HAS FOUR HONOREES NAMED TO ABCA/RAWLINGS EAST ALL-REGION TEAMS
2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region Teams
Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/28/25) The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Dominican University New York had four players named to the East All-Region Teams. Freshman outfielder Erick Diaz was named to the First Team, while shortstop David Knepper, outfielder Jaden Maia and designated hitter Kevin Hirsch were named to the East All-Region Second Team.
Diaz earns his third All-Region honors as he was previously named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation (NCBWA) All-East Region First Team and to the D2CCA All-East Region First Team. He also earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team accolades. Diaz ranked fifth in the conference in hits and home runs, first in triples and seventh in RBIs.
Knepper makes his first appearance on an All-Region Team this season. He was previously named to the All-CACC Second Team. Knepper ranked fourth in the conference in batting average and was ninth in hits.
Maia also earns his third All-Region honors after previously being named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation (NCBWA) All-East Region First Team and to the D2CCA All-East Region First Team. Maia was a All-CACC First Team honoree and was second in the conference in batting average and was tied for third in hits.
Hirsch earns his thirdAll-Region honors after being named to the NCBWA East All-Region Second Team and to the D2CCA All-East Region Second Team. He was third in the conference in doubles and 10th hits. Hirsch was also a All-CACC First Team selection.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican University New York), Dave Hajek (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs), Ryan Kelley (Wayne State University), Alex Koch (Wayne State College), Marc Marizzaldi (Seton Hill University) and Tony Schifano (San Francisco State University).
The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-America teams will be announced on Friday, May 30. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
