BASEBALL CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER LIONS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/29/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a win over the visiting Lions of Molloy University, 13-6, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Clover Stadium.
With the win the Chargers improve to 35-15 overall.
Dominican got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first as Erick Diaz led off the inning with a solo home run and later Alexander Reyes singled home a run.
The Chargers added three runs in the second on a RBI ground out by Ryan Bongiorno and a two-run triple by Jaden Maia. In the third, Diaz doubled home a run to extend their lead to 6-1.
DUNY scored two more runs in the fourth on the two-run single off the bat of Reyes and added a run in the fifth on an error for a 9-6 advantage.
The Chargers added four more runs in the sixth on a hit by Stefano Libio, an error and a single by Diaz for the 13-6 victory.
Diaz led the team with four hits and three RBIs.
Maia finished with three hits, while Reyes had three RBIs, while five other Chargers had two hits each in the win.
Starter Isaiah Figueroa earned the win in 4 and 2/3 innings of work with four strikeouts.
Dominican returns to action on Friday in the first round of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship Tournament.
